Dama Project Annual Meeting

The Dama Project annual meeting was held in Cairo on November 22 and 23, 2025. Participants discussed the project’s progress and shared its outcomes.
Dama, which stands for Data Analytics for Mycetoma Research Center, represents a collaborative effort among various institutions. This initiative works closely with the Mycetoma Research Center (MRC), the Comboni College of Science and Technology (CCST) in Khartoum, and researchers from the Institute of Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK) at Offenburg University in Germany.
The aim of the project is to establish a strong foundation in database management and data pre-processing. This groundwork is essential for facilitating future analyses and projects in mycetoma research. Through their collaboration, the team aspires to develop a robust framework that will enable comprehensive data analysis of more than 12,000 mycetoma patients treated at the MRC over the last 30 years, ultimately aiding in the understanding and treatment of mycetoma.
Funding for the project is provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which has secured financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt—AA) to bolster the ‘Ta’ziz Short-Term Measures’ initiative. This support highlights a commitment to fostering international cooperation and knowledge exchange, empowering collaborative efforts that advance research, innovation, and capacity-building in the field of mycetoma.
